A man  pleaded guilty this afternoon in connection with an international fake document production ring being prosecuted in federal court in Richmond.

He is the 18th person in the operation to plead guilty. A trial date is expected to be set June 10 for the nine remaining defendants.

Twenty-seven people were arrested Nov. 18 in connection with the allegedly sophisticated, violent organization that had cells in 19 cities and 11 states, including three in Virginia with one in Richmond.

The organization produced high-quality false identification cards for sale to illegal immigrants, officials said. The indictment alleged that from January 2008 through November 2010, members of the organization wired more than $1 million to Mexico.
